We transformed “the Kruidentuin”, right in the middle of the city Mechelen into a mesmerizing spectacle. Collaborating with the talented orchestra of Casco Phil, we presented a breathtaking drone light show during the closing weekend of Construct Europe.

Over the course of an hour, the melodies of Händel, Beethoven, Camille Saint-Saëns, and more were brought to life by hundreds of drones, illustrating an enchanting journey.

For the “Le cygne” piece we animated a giant swan. The 13th and penultimate movement of The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns. A swan is often portrays as the most beautiful of animals and during the play it can be interpreted as elderly and stubbornly resisting the effects of aging or even dying. We portrayed it as a swan living here life throughout a day / life and going to sleep / dying.

The second part was the Water Music of Händel. A part playing in response to King George I’s request for a concert on the River Thames. During the show we showed the boat’s journey on the Thames, including some instruments like the violin and trumpet. That was on the tunes of Alla Hornpipe and the Bourée. As intermezzo a baroque dancer danced to the beautiful tunes of Rigaudon. During the last part of the Water Music we did a shoutout to Mechelen, with putting #love2800 high in the sky. Our last piece was “Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven to conclude all the beautiful festivities brought by Construct Europe. Together with the European flag high in the sky!

Special thanks to Construct Europe, Stad Mechelen , CASCO Phil , and our dedicated volunteers for making this magical experience possible!
