Guerilla International Firework Festival

Amidst the restrictions of the COVID pandemic, when all public events were canceled, Scheveningen made history with a stunning, unannounced alternative to its famous annual fireworks festival. Typically spanning multiple weekends with dazzling fireworks, this year marked the 40th edition. To honor the occasion, a guerrilla-style event was organized, blending a breathtaking drone show, fireworks, a light show, and live music from the duo Amy Root.

The drone show took center stage, captivating accidental passersby as drones launched from the beach and performed above the sea, just beside the iconic Scheveningen pier. This spectacle featured abstract circles that danced to the rhythm of the music, a rotating globe, the map of the Netherlands, and the number 75 to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. Each display lit up the sky with precision and beauty, creating a visual narrative that left onlookers in awe.

The event wasn’t advertised, adding to its mystique, but those fortunate enough to witness it were treated to a remarkable fusion of technology and art. The show was also live-streamed on YouTube, allowing a broader audience to experience the magic of the drones lighting up the sky in this historic celebration.
